The St James Parish Council is looking to enlist the support of residents to ensure that there is sustained cleaning and maintenance of all drains across the parish.
Chairman of the St. James Parish Council’s Civic and Community Affairs Committee Councillor Suzette Brown says the aim is to get residents to take charge of the drains that serve their communities.
Brown says when they become owners they are able to encourage others not to litter or dump garbage in drains.
She noted that a similar model employed in the William Street area has resulted in significant improvements.
