LIME stages successful blood drive
Fifty units of blood were collected on Wednesday, July 29, as scores of corporate entities turned out to support the second annual LIME Foundation Blood Drive. Employees, customers, passers-by and well-wishers also formed long lines to donate blood. The successful drive was held in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service.
Lloyd Distant, a director of LIME Foundation, applauded the donors for their effort. "This is a good way to give back to Jamaica. Compared with last year, we saw a larger number of donors out. Many Jamaicans are becoming more aware of the need to donate blood, and we are committed to fostering the habit," Distant said.
"We are also trying to get even more young persons to give blood because, when the habit starts at an early age, they will continue to donate over a longer period of time," he added.
