JTA delegates reviewing latest wage offer

Delegates of the Jamaica Teacher's Association (JTA) are now meeting to decide whether they'll accept the government's latest wage offer.

The JTA received the new offer from the government last week.

Former JTA President, Doran Dixon said he was hopeful the teachers would sign off on the wage deal at the association's annual conference which is now under way at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay, St James.

Several unions under the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU) have already accepted the offer for an across-the-board $4000 increase in year one and three per cent in the second year.

The JTA is a member of the JCTU, but opted to represent itself in the wage negotiations.
