Gore, Eurotrend assist basic school

The Phillip and Christine Gore Family Foundation recently partnered with Ted Samuels, managing director of Eurotrend Manufacturing & Fabricators Company Limited (Eurotrend), to make life easier for students and staff at the Arnold Road Basic School. The result was a quick and effective installation of new kitchen cupboards that were urgently needed.

Like so many schools around the Corporate Area, the Arnold Road Basic School has pressing problems, many of which are linked directly to a lack of funding. The school struggles gamely to provide a comfortable environment for the students, teachers and even members of the public who may visit the premises.

It is against such a backdrop that the foundation decided to team up with Eurotrend to provide the new kitchen cupboards. The installation was completed in early August, one month ahead and in good time for the new school year. With more than 300 students enrolled at the school, such clean, new and practical accessories to the kitchen have given the school a lift, not to mention an overall improvement.

Happy and elated

Principal Joyce LaCorbiniere was sincere in her thanks when she wrote, "On behalf of the Parent-Teacher Association, teachers and students, I wish to inform you that without your great effort, our institution would not have improved in this area. We are happy and elated."

The Gore Foundation, with Phillip and Christine Gore at its helm, is a non-profit organisation mainly focused and geared towards ensuring the proper start for Jamaican children by placing special emphasis on early-childhood education at the basic- and primary-school levels. Over the years, the Gores, through the foundation and the scholarship fund, have worked with many schools. Their contribution to the Arnold Road Basic School, in collaboration with Eurotrend, therefore, was very much in keeping with their mandate of developing and nurturing that vital period of a child's education - the very beginning.

The Gore Foundation is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to developing Jamaica's economy, people and especially the children, through education and sports.
