Donovan Stanberry
The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture hit the front pages after he admitted last week that he and other senior members of the ministry have received loans under the European Union (EU) funded Cane Expansion Fund. Lynvale Bloomfield
The incumbent member of parliament (MP) for East Portland suffered defeat to challenger Andrea Moore in an intra-party selection exercise in the constituency. Hugh Buchanan
The member of parliament for St Elizabeth South West beat back challenger Ewan Stephenson by 14 votes, receiving 147 votes from delegates to Stephenson's 133, to retain the right to represent the party in the constituency in the next general election.
Nicolas Maduro
The Venezuelan president visited the island last week for the 10th Anniversary Commemorative Summit of the PetroCaribe Agreement. He pledged to build a comprehensive plan for PetroCaribe in the next 10 years, spanning 2015-2025.
