Water issues force suspension of morning shift at Norman Manley High School

The morning shift at the Norman Manley High School in Kingston had to be cancelled and students sent home earlier today because of the lack of water.

The Education Ministry says it was made aware of the situation and steps were taken to address the problem.

According to the ministry, water was eventually supplied to the school which allowed afternoon classes as scheduled.

In the meantime, the education ministry says it has not received any reports of water issues at other schools.

However, the ministry says it is continuing to monitoring the situation as Jamaica grapples with an ongoing drought.

Yesterday, the National Water Commission announced that communities served by the Hope and Mona Treatment plants will now get water only two days a week.

Previously, the areas were served with water every two days.
