WEST KINGSTON ENQUIRY: Tearful mother rejects conspiracy suggestion

The mother of two young men allegedly killed by the police in Tivoli Gardens in May 2010, has rejected assertions that she and two soldiers who gave testimonies conspired to mislead the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry. 

Marjorie Williams rejected the suggestions put forward this afternoon under cross examination by Valerie Neita Robertson, the lawyer representing the Jamaica Constabulary Force. 

Earlier today, the woman broke down in tears as she recounted how her sons were taken from her Tivoli Gardens home during the May 2010 operations and made to lay in a neighbour's garden.

She said her sons, 17-year-old Denham Town High School student Fernando Grant and his 20-year-old brother Fabian, were crying uncontrollably and a policeman told them to shut up.

Williams later said after hearing explosions and not hearing her son's voice, she went to a bedroom window and saw a policeman and a resident of Tivoli Gardens toss Fabian's body into a white police vehicle.

Two unidentified soldiers have given testimonies alleging they saw police personnel kill innocent civilians during the operation to capture drug lord Christopher 'Dudus' Coke. 

One of the soldiers, called Soldier One, said he and other colleagues found two young men injured at a house that police personnel searched minutes before and where explosions were also heard.

The other, Soldier Three, said he watched as two policemen opened fire with high-powered rifles on two young men sitting in a detention area with their hands bound behind them.
