Nurses' Association and Government sign wage agreement, PM thankful

The Nurses' Association of Jamaica (NAJ) and the Government today signed a wage agreement for the 2015-2017 contract period.
Nurses represented by the NAJ will receive a seven-per cent wage increase.
Among other things, the NAJ will receive $5 million in scholarships for registered nurses to pursue tertiary studies and another $5 million for the children of public sector nurses to pursue tertiary studies.
At the signing, the Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley, said the nurses’ support of the wage agreement signals their patriotism.
Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, expressed gratitude to the NAJ.
The NAJ has become the seventh public sector group to sign the seven per cent wage agreement.
The government says today's signing brings to 90 per cent, the total number of public sector workers who have signed the agreement.
The police are yet to sign the deal.
