Victoria Mutual Florida Funds Scholarship

The Victoria Mutual Florida Representative Office has teamed up with some key partners, including The Galleon Foundation, to generate and donate US$5,000 to the Florida Memorial University (FMU).

The funds will be used to establish an annual scholarship programme at the institution.

The cheque was presented to Dr Roslyn Artis, president of the Florida Memorial University, at the recently held Galleon Foundation's Sixth Annual Gala in Florida. The scholarship is open to students of Caribbean or African-American Heritage.

According to Suzette Rochester, manager of the VMBS Florida Representative Office, the organisation is pleased to partner with The Galleon Foundation in awarding this notable scholarship to the Florida Memorial University. This scholarship is indicative of Victoria Mutual's continued commitment to the diaspora; encourages and fosters youth development; promotes higher education to college age students; and, by extension, assist in building their financial independence through the varied savings options offered by the Society.
