Ex-policeman Alpheus Wade has been sentenced to 15 years for kidnapping.

The sentence was handed down this morning by Justice Jennifer Straw in the Home Circuit Court.

Justice Straw indicated that she took into consideration the time Wade has already spent in custody in deciding on the sentence.

The ex-cop was convicted last month of the June 2011 kidnapping of Kingston Businessman, Marc Frankson.

Frankson had testified at the trial that he was held up by men on June 15, 2011, blindfolded and taken to an undisclosed location.

He said the kidnappers demanded a ransom of US$500,000.

The businessman said he managed to escape following an alleged shoot-out between his kidnappers and the police in Portmore, St Catherine.

Wade denied being involved in Frankson’s kidnapping.
