There's a huge outpouring of grief on social media over the sudden death of 22-year old, Stafford McLean, a former leadership ambassador at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies.

The former St Catherine High school student died from an undisclosed illness yesterday.

McLean celebrated his 22nd birthday in September and graduated last month from the UWI, Mona, with a Bachelor's degree.

He served as a leadership ambassador in the university's Peer Leadership programme up until his graduation.

Programme director, Nadeen Spence, expressed shock noting that McLean was quiet, well mannered and always had a smile.

"He just came by to visit me the other day, before UWI Graduation and he told me of the impact of the UWI LEADS programme on him. I was so happy to remind him how his attitude and commitment made the programme a success. This is such a shock," Spence posted on Facebook.

Many of his friends and former schoolmates also grieved.

Jodi-Ann Jonas: "...To hear this sad news, its unbelievable," she posted.
