Cops injured after police vehicle crashes, overturns in Portland

A police constable and a district constable from Manchioneal in Portland have been hospitalised in serious condition after the service vehicle in which they were travelling overturned late Saturday afternoon.

The constable was driving a recently acquired Toyota Hilux police vehicle in the vicinity of the Muirton Boys' Home when he lost control of the pick-up.

It then crashed and overturned causing injuries to the constable and the district constable, who was a passenger.

Both cops were rushed to the Port Antonio Hospital where they were admitted in a serious but stable condition.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and will be out of service.

This means there will be added strain on the Manchioneal Police to adequately conduct  patrols.
