Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ealan Powell has said the cops who were killed last night were specifically targeted.

The declaration by the senior policeman follows an assertion by West St Thomas MP James Robertson that one of the cops had been receiving threats over an incident years ago.

Robertson did not give details of the alleged incident, but called for the police High Command to release all the information they have and to seek help.

Speaking on Cliff Hughes online this morning, ACP Powell, said one of the policeman had been involved in an incident a few years ago which resulted in the death of a member of the main suspect’s criminal network.

However, ACP Powell says the police have not yet established a connection between the incidents.
