Nestlé, for the second year, embarked on its Nestlé Spreads Christmas Joy initiative, spreading Christmas cheer and touching the lives of individuals in an inspiring way.

Five lucky shoppers were surprised at the checkout counter at Shoppers Fair Supermarket, Duhaney Park, as Nestlé covered their bills for the day.

Steven Campbell, Minette Smith, Audrey Fairweather, June Lawrence and Sceion Fearon were elated by the gesture.

In return, they had to 'pay it forward' by scouting the supermarkets to find other shoppers they believed were deserving of a Nestlé Good Food, Good Life basket filled with nutritious products.

Basket recipients were Kaydian Jenkins, Nicola Thompson, Ceciline McFarlane, Ashique Walker and Ashieka Bennett.

Shawna Kidd, corporate communications and consumer relations manager, Nestlé, said the company wanted to do something special for shoppers, to inspire them to share the joy with others by providing products to nourish their families.

SUPPORTING FAMILIES

"For us, this is the least we can do but we understand that many families will be making choices, holding back on spending on food, as they will also have to think about the bills they have to pay, including back-to-school-fees," Kidd said.

"Christmas is a time for giving, sharing and family togetherness and, as a family company, Nestlé wanted to support families as they sit together to enjoy good food and warm family moments together.

"Providing individuals with the gift of groceries was a worthwhile gesture justified by the priceless reactions and gratitude shown by the recipients," Kidd added. According to Kerrene Tulloch, assistant store manager, it was a pleasure having Nestlé at the store.

"The recipients were overjoyed with what they received. On behalf of the customers at Duhaney Park, we thank Nestlé for surprising our customers," she said.
