Meldam Realty has successful year, launches Chinese website

Last year was an amazing year for the St Ann-based real estate brokerage firm. Meldam Realty saw an unexpected increase in revenue, as well as breaking new ground in the Chinese and middle-eastern markets.

"Our plans were to see sales start to increase during 2016. However, several sales agents increased their tempo and were able to achieve and exceed targets ahead of schedule and deliver these results in the 2015 period." said Meldam Realty's CEO and chairman, Rory Marsh.

2015 was a breakthrough year for the company Realty as it entered the Negril, Jamaica, market, which is currently seeing a market boom with several hundred resort rooms being added. The latter part of the year saw the launch of a Chinese-Only website geared towards Chinese-speaking buyers with strong spending power.

"Since the launch of the website in November, we have seen thousands of views and we have not yet started to market the site. Our vendors are very excited about Meldam Realty marketing their property

directly to the Chinese market," said Marsh.

Come next month, Meldam Realty plans to launch its Arabic Jamaican Property website targeting buyers directly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

"We believe that real estate in Jamaica is now very ripe for investors. The current market indicators are showing that Jamaica is one of the most attractive investments in the Caribbean and Central America. We continue to work very closely with vendors to directly target pockets of investors who are looking for attractive real estate investments globally," Marsh added.

Large plans

Marsh is currently undertaking the Florida Real Estate Brokers course, which will pave the way for the opening of Meldam Realty's first office outside of the country. He has plans to open an office in Miami, Florida by the end of the 2016 financial year. Having this office will enhance the presence of the company's brand in the southern hub of the USA which will ultimately contribute a steady flow of buyers for vendors here in Jamaica.

Although Meldam Realty is based in St Ann, a significant amount of the sales have come through efforts of the Kingston-based agents, and leading the charge is Julian Dixon with a commendable performance this year. Another Kingston agent, Marlene Williams, has closed 2015 with a record-breaking combined J$23 billion value in listings. With these listings added to the portfolio, 2016 should be a very exciting year.

Negril is one of the areas that Marsh is very excited about for 2016, and agent Ingrid Foote Daye has secured several listings comprising resorts and residential lands. He expects the buyers in the new and existing markets to be very happy about these additions.

The team has accomplished these records through the combined teamwork of its agents and staff. Everyone came together and worked all year with alacrity and diligence to achieve this milestone.
