Ten busloads of Pryce supporters descend on PNP headquarters

A contingent of supporters of North East St Elizabeth Member of Parliament Raymond Pryce are now meeting with officers of the People’s National Party (PNP) after busloads of them descended on the party’s headquarters.

They arrived at the PNP’s Old Hope Road, Kingston, headquarters in ten buses about 1:15 this afternoon to continue their fight to have Pryce reinstated as the party’s candidate for the next general elections.

When they arrived, they were told to select ten persons from among them to meet with the party’s officers.

The officers present are chairman, Robert Pickersgill; vice-presidents, Dr Fenton Ferguson, Noel Arscott, Angella Brown-Burke and Derrick Kellier; general secretary, Paul Burke; and deputy general secretary, Julian Robinson.

The supporters who remained outside have been chanting “Redman must go”, insisting that while they support the PNP and its president, Portia Simpson Miller, they are not prepared to vote for Pryce’s replacement, Evon Redman.

They are demanding that Redman be removed and Pryce be given the responsibility as standard-bearer.

Last week, the supporters had signalled they would take their fight to Kingston following a protest in the constituency on Monday.
