Jamaican law-prize winner feted in NYC

Kamille Adair Morgan, Jamaica's Rhodes scholar and winner of the Winter Williams Prize at University of Oxford for International Economic Law, was guest of honour at a reception hosted by Images Media LLC in New York recently.

It was standing-room only for guests who wanted to meet the inspiring, articulate and brilliant 26-year-old Jamaican who now resides in Oxford, England, but who was visiting New York City.

During the reception at Finn Partners, East 57 Street in Manhattan, Morgan was congratulated by members of the Jamaican diaspora for her accomplishments. She moved from being a Jamaica scholar and head girl at Ardenne High School to building a track record of distinctions at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and at the University of Oxford.

Adair Morgan graduated from law school at the UWI with first-class honours and was later top of the class and its valedictorian. In Oxford, she graduated with distinctions for both the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) and the M.Phil degrees. She is presently reading for her doctorate in International Law at Oxford.

"I am very happy to be here to congratulate Kamille, and I am very impressed by her accomplishments, her focus and her drive", executive vice-president and general auditor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Clive Blackwood, told The Gleaner.

The guests were riveted by Adair Morgan's discussion of her experiences in Oxford and her research work there in the global hot-button issues relating to the use of force, self-defence and trends in how countries are dealing with attacks by non-state and terrorist actors.
