Royalton workers protest again

Workers at the Royalton hotel site searching for survivors following the collapse of a section of the building last month.

Several workers at the Royalton Hotel construction site in Negril, Hanover were locked out of the premises by other protesting workers who were reportedly demanding a wage increase.

This is the second protest staged by construction workers in less than two weeks.

It's reported that most of the protesters are construction workers who are demanding an increase on the $1500 they earn per day.

It's also reported that some protesters are demanding payment of money owed to them for almost a month.

Last month, construction workers blocked the entrance to the Royalton construction site demanding payment of salaries, which they say were due before a major accident at the site which injured five workers.

Royalton representatives later promised to pay the workers the overdue amounts.
