Public Defender dismisses criticisms about West Kingston report
Public Defender Arlene Harrison Henry has dismissed the criticism that the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry report should have held Tivoli residents accountable for their part in the 2010 police-military operation.
Harrison Henry says the enquiry was setup to examine whether excessive force was used during the operation and it was not mandated to examine whether citizens contributed to the operation.
She says the force used during the operation was excessive despite the fact that there were residents who supported criminality in Tivoli at the time of the operation.
Henry also says she is satisfied with the findings of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry and anticipates the apology and compensation that the commission recommended for the aggrieved residents.
