Corinaldi Avenue Primary continues its tradition of excellence

Corinaldi Avenue Primary School in Montego Bay continues its tradition of excellence in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) this year, with its top boy and top girl, Jerold Grant and Danielle Anderson, respectively both copping a 97 per cent average.

"I feel good about the result," said 11-year-old Jerold, who is heading to Cornwall College, his high school of choice. "Every night when I went home, I took up my book and studied. I did not try to push it too hard because, if I did, I would not remember some of the things I learned, and when I came to school, I made as much notes as possible to go home and study to prepare for my exams."

Danielle, 12, who will be attending Mount Alvernia High School and sees herself becoming a paediatric nurse or fashion designer, said: "I feel good because, from all the work that the teachers put in, it really paid off and it brought me this far. I studied as much as possible every day of the week, and I took time to do it so that everything would come together properly so that I could ace my exam."

Grade-six coordinator Theresa Morgan-Williams lauded both students for their academic achievement.

"Jerold is the most improved child in the school's grade six, and Danielle is a hardworking and dedicated student."

Corinaldi Avenue Primary's reputation for GSAT excellence did not begin with Jerold's and Danielle's success in this year's exam, as in 2015, James Welds, Jr scored a 100 per cent average, while in 2014, Gabrielle Graham was presented with a scholarship at the Montego Co-operative Credit Union's annual Bayley-Hay Scholarship and Awards Ceremony, after attaining a 96 per cent average in that year's GSAT sitting.
