A man was shot dead, another injured during a break-in, while a woman was raped at gunpoint in three separate incidents in Portland last night.
In the first incident, the body of a man, who the police said has so far been unidentified, was found with gunshot wounds this morning at Snow Hill in the parish.
According to the police, about 1:30 a.m. they were summoned to Snow Hill where they found the man’s body lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.
The police say the man is about 5'6" tall, of dark complexion and was wearing brown shorts, red slippers and blue shirt.
The body has a tattoo on his left shoulder and had a low haircut.
This would bring to five the numbers of murders in Portland since the start of 2016.
In the second incident also at Snow Hill, the police said a licensed firearm holder woke up to find a man standing in his bedroom with a gun making threatening demands.
The firearm holder reportedly pulled his weapon from under a pillow and a shootout ensued.
During the exchange of gunfire, the resident was reportedly shot three times in the leg.
The gunman then ran away leaving behind a trail of blood, which the police say indicates he too might have been shot.
In the third incident, a man reportedly held up a woman at gunpoint while she was making her way home shortly after midnight.
The police say the man raped the woman and robbed her of an undermined sum of money.
