Mayberry Investments is show-casing its spirit of Independence in the annual JCDC competition for the Best Decorated Business/Office Promotion under the theme 'Wear it in gold and stripe it bold'.

Gary Peart, CEO of Mayberry Investments, explained that the company took the opportunity in an effort to build teamwork among the staff and encourage pride within the company.

"We are very delighted that Mayberry is participating in the JCDC Festival competition - 'Spirit of Independence' - to commemorate Jamaica's 54 years of Independence. This is an opportunity for us to partake in an activity that endorses our cultural values as a Mayberry team, by celebrating and highlighting our national pride and fulfilling our corporate social responsibility," Peart said.

"The staff was extremely excited to participate in the competition, we started a 'Team Mayberry for the win' campaign with a social media #MILSpiritofIndependence. We want this to go viral," an excited Peart said.

IGNITING PATRIOTISM

The concept used by Mayberry was to incorporate different aspects of Jamaica by displaying vivid symbolic images on each of its department floors.

"We see this competition as a way of rallying persons to come together and ignite their patriotism. Based on the previous years' displays, we hope to see a bigger and better take on this year's theme. Businesses will be judged based on creativity, neatness, appeal, use of theme and six photographs. All participants in the event must be congratulated for the effort that will be made in getting their offices to be a representation of the spirit of independence," said Stephen Davidson, director of marketing and public relations at the JCDC.

The award will be decided after the celebrations which ran from July 31-August 12. The winner will be announced in September.
