Chudleigh Path's Agricultural Society awards Manchester scholar

Another student has been added to the list of awardees who will receive a scholarship grant for the next three years of high school from the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Chudleigh Path Chapter.
The envy of many is Jimario Myrie, the 2016 awardee, heading to DeCarteret College.
The association has since 2012 been awarding one scholarship per year for three years to primary school students who have done well in their Grade Six Achievement Test, have high levels of leadership qualities, commendable academic skills, while being actively involved in community initiatives.
This scholarship is named after former JAS president for the chapter, Wilfred 'Jacksie' Reid, who initiated the programme and at 96 years old, still manages to make the presentations yearly.
With the awardees determining whether they keep their scholarships or lose them, as a result of academic performance, Councillor Donovan Mitchell, at the awards ceremony held recently, encouraged them to remain focused and work hard.
"All of you have what it takes to be great...it is important that you believe in yourself and work hard and be disciplined in whatever you do... If you want to run, run fast, if you want to sing, sing well and most importantly, put God first."
He also encouraged the parents not to be complacent with their child's development.
"We have a responsibility to take them to the next level, the devil is out there and although they have done well, when they leave to go to high school, that is where the trouble begins so guard them, protect them, follow up with them and follow up with the schools," said Mitchell.
Guest speaker and principal of the Christiana Leased Primary School, Christopher Tyme, in his address, advised the recipients to dream big and work twice as hard.
