Security ministry moves closer to acquiring used vehicles for police force
The Ministry of National Security is moving to acquire just under 300 used vehicles for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
Additionally, the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) has provided J$50 million for the repair of 100 police vehicles as part of an initiative called ‘Operation Quick Fix.’
The announcements by Minister of National Security Robert Montague came during a tour of the JCF’s Transport and Repairs Division in St Andrew last week.
He says the ministry will soon be placing advertisements in the newspapers for the procurement of 260 used vehicles for the JCF.
Montague also revealed that under Operation Quick Fix, 34 vehicles have already been repaired and put back into service.
And he says the government has engaged the services of private garages to assist in getting police vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible.
