Huawei among 50 smartest companies

Each year the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), identifies 50 companies that are 'smart' in the way they create new opportunities both in their industries and/or positively impact others. This year, telecommunications giant Huawei was recognised and won the number 10 spot joining large companies like Amazon and Alphabet, that are using digital technologies to redefine industries.

Huawei invests heavily in Research and Development positioning itself as the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and MIT has recognised its innovations and the many opportunities created in the sector.

The list also includes companies 'wrestling with technological changes', ambitious start-ups and specific apps. According to MIT, "Huawei's 2015 launch of the Nexus 6P phone, which it co-designed and manufactured for Google, showed it can make high-end, high-quality smartphones. Continued strength in entry-level devices, coupled with growing clout in more expensive phones, helped Huawei grow smartphone shipments 58 per cent year-over-year and become the no. 3 smartphone vendor worldwide".

Just as it demonstrated through its partnership with Google, Huawei has a commitment to origination and an openness to collaboration which have materialised in its alliances with premium and leading companies like Intel (MateBook), Leica (Huawei P9), Swarovski (Huawei Watch) and harman/kardon (MediaPad M series)- and a business vision - implemented with a rotating CEO system that puts, every six months, its global CEOs in charge of a different business group to keep the innovation going. This has set Huawei aside from other companies and enhances its potential for connecting its fans and consumers with greatness all over the world.

This type of acknowledgement by influential technological entities such as MIT, is a great motivator for Huawei since the brand's plan is to make a long lasting positive impact in the industry by driving modernism as the main focus of the market.
