Education Minister, his team and grief counsellors visit mourning St George's College

Minister of Education Ruel Reid today urged the students and staff of St George's College to turn to God in their hour of grief.

Reid joined the grieving school community to commemorate the life of sixth former Dominic James, who died yesterday after he collapsed on the field of play during a Manning Cup match.

The education minister said Dominic's death is a personal loss as he interacted with the former Jamaica College student on numerous occasions while he was principal at the school.

Grief counsellors and a team from the Ministry of Education are currently at the school to offer counselling to students and staff.

Meanwhile, in bringing his message to the grieving school community, President of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA), Howard Isaacs encouraged staff and students to support each other as they mourn.

"The JTA stands in solidarity with you," he said.

Isaacs addressed coach Neville Bell directly, urging him to remain strong for the members of the Manning Cup team.

Students and staff of the school were gathered at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
