A man catches water from a leaking fire hydrant.

Starting tomorrow, the National Water Commission (NWC) says it will be conducting leak detection work in several St Andrew communities.

The initiative is part of the NWC’s strategies to reduce non-revenue water.

The NWC says work crews will visit premises in Liguanea, Mona, Cherry Gardens, Barbican, Hope Pastures, Jacks Hill, Beverly Hills and Long Mountain to identify and repair all leaks on its system.

The crews will also carry out water pressure testing, replace valves and conduct active searched for invisible leaks.

The utility company says much of the work will be conducted at nights to allow for the use of sonar equipment to better detect leaks.
