The 'Walk for the Cure' drive, in aid of the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS), got help from the management and staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland. The CIBC family held a mini version of the walk in the streets of the parish capital recently.

The annual event, now in its fifth year, saw employees, friends, and customers participating in a 10-lap walk to raise funds for the benefit of the JCS.

"We decided to do this after we realised that as a branch, it was not possible to join our colleagues for the main event in Kingston, so we are here staging our own local walk for the cure to increase public awareness," said Cardella Baker, who, along with Nerissa Nasbeth, conceptualised the event.

With the support of local corporate citizens, customers, and community members, CIBC FirstCaribbean raised more than $250,000 towards the JCS.

Employees throughout the Caribbean countries in which CIBC operates participate in similar events, with funds raised benefiting their respective cancer organisations.
