The suspect in the killing of 14-year-old Jamaica College student, Nicholas Francis, has been charged and is set to appear in court on Friday.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the police force, via its twitter handle, announced this afternoon that Quacie Hart has been charged for the killing of the student.

This is after Hart turned himself in to the Half-Way Tree police last night. He was accompanied by his lawyer Adrian Christie.

Crime Stop had announced a J$1 million reward for information leading to Hart's arrest.

Last Wednesday, 14-year-old Francis was stabbed to death on a Toyota Coaster bus in front of his school when he refused to hand over his cell phone to a robber.

The police named Hart as a person of interest a day after the incident.

Hart is currently on bail after being previously charged for illegal possession of a firearm. He is set to appear in court on January 17, 2017 on that matter.
