Technician caught in motel with missing high school girl remanded
Thirty-eight-year-old technician Miguel McMorris who was held by police allegedly having sex with a schoolgirl was remanded when he appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court today.
The McMorris who is of a St Andrew address and is charged with sexual grooming, having sex with a person under 16 and grievous sexual assault.
He is to reappear in court on March 3.
In applying for bail, McMorris' attorney told the court that her client is not a flight-risk and has a steady job at a financial institution.
The court then heard that there are further investigations being conducted against the accused as pornographic material was discovered on his cellular phone which was seized by the police.
Judge Tara Reid-Carr then ruled that the man had to stay in custody until the investigations were complete.
It's alleged that on the 6th of February, a police party carried out an operation on a Spanish Town-based motel and discovered the accused in a compromising position with a 15-year-old girl.
The police later realised that the child was previously reported missing.
Further investigation revealed she was a student of a high school in St Catherine.
The child has since been placed in the care of the state.
