American Women’s Group holds Silent Art Auction today

The American Women's Group (AWG) will be hosting a silent art auction today at 7 p.m.
The show will see artwork from some of Jamaica's major artists, including Alexander Cooper, Ann Cooper, Bernadette Matalon, Tina Spiro, and Norma Harrack. It will be an elegant evening of art, music, and food.
"I believe that art is a big part of how we can express joy and enlightenment in a world that is sometimes filled with negativity," says AWG's president Claudja Alexander.
"It is hoped that the funds raised will impact the lives of young people, which has been the focus of all the AWG events.
We intend to enrich the lives of those who are not able to do so on their own."
The AWG was established in 1985 by a small group of women (expatriates) with ties to the United States Embassy. The group began as a social organisation and expanded to include charitable works. The group is now a non-profit, non-governmental organisation consisting of multinational volunteers and focuses on helping children in Jamaica's underserved communities by providing educational scholarships, auxiliary and examination fees, as well as books to students.
It also helps communities with special needs.
