The Jamaica Manufacturers' Association has welcomed news that Prime Minister Andrew Holness is to officially open its upcoming Jamaica International Exhibition (JIE).

"The JMA is honoured that Prime Minister Holness has found it important enough to be the guest speaker at our opening," said JMA President Metry Seaga.

"We at the JMA know that this is a groundbreaking exercise, and this inaugural event that we are having is going to prove to be the Caribbean's largest and best show of its kind," added Seaga, as he urged companies to "get in on the ground floor and be a part of what is going to be the best business-to-business event in the Caribbean".

The JIE is scheduled for from June 1-3, 2017 and is being designed as a global marketplace where some of the largest and most important traders from the United States of America, Canada, South America, United Kingdom and the Caribbean will gather to showcase their products and services.

According to the JMA, more than 100 booth spaces have already been sold.

"This inclusive expo guarantees the broadest and most expansive exposure of companies to a regional and international audience and offers opportunities such as networking, forming new business contacts and linkages, creating investment, connecting with suppliers, retailers and distributors," said Seaga.

Open to the public on June 2 and 3, the JIE will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, Rose Hall, St James.
