The Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for low-lying and flood prone areas of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, Trelawny and St Ann.

A Flash Flood Warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.

Motorists and pedestrians are being urged not to attempt to cross flooded roadways or other low-lying areas as strong currents are likely.

The Met Service says low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover and St James are now under a Flash Flood Watch.

This means flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.

The Met Service says a large Area of Disturbed Weather and a Tropical Wave now moving across Jamaica, continue to influence weather conditions across the island.

As a result, it says there will be moderate to heavy showers are expected to continue to affect sections of all parishes today

The forecast remains in effect until 5 this afternoon.
