The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency yesterday seized US$39,225 from a Jamaica-bound traveller at the Philadelphia International Airport.
The CBP says the unidentified female traveller had initially reported that she possessed less than US$10,000.
The agency says the woman then wrote down that she had in her possession US$20,000 after CBP officers explained the currency reporting requirements to her.
However, CBP officers say they found US$39,000 in her possession after an inspection.
The agency says the woman was not charged but the money was confiscated and she was allowed to continue her journey to Jamaica.
