The Member of Parliament for south east Clarendon Rudyard Spencer is appealing to criminals in his constituency to put down their guns.

Clarendon has been rocked by a spate of killings in the last three weeks, including a triple murder in the community of Monymusk, which is located in Spencer’s constituency.

Since the start of the year, close to 70 persons have been killed in the parish.

Speaking at a NHT ground-breaking ceremony yesterday, Spencer urged armed thugs in his constituency and across the parish to give the guns a break.

The veteran politician says he is saddened by the recent spate of murders in communities such as New Bowens and Monymusk.

Spencer, who is also the state minister in the Ministry of Finance, says residents across the constituency deserves a chance to live in peace and gave the assurance that the government will do whatever it can to assist them.
