The Ministry of Education is undertaking an inspection of infant, primary and secondary schools.

The exercise, which is being done in partnership with the National Education Trust and the University of Technology, is being carried out under the Jamaica Safe Schools Project.

It aims to mainstream disaster risk management in the regulation, planning, designing, construction and management of school infrastructure.

Some 971 schools are scheduled to be inspected.

The pilot phase of the project is being executed between June 26 and 29, with 45 schools in Kingston and five in St Andrew to be inspected.
