16 Hill Top inmates to receive mixology training
Sixteen inmates at the Hill Top Juvenile Correctional Facility in St Ann are to be trained in Mixology.
The training forms part of the Ministry of National Security’s Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Society Reintegration Programme.
Over six weeks, the juvenile inmates will learn how to work as a team, prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages, follow work place hygiene, and health and safety procedures, and effective customer service.
Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security Senator Pearnel Charles Jr. said the initiative will bolster the employment prospects of the inmates and assist entrepreneurial pursuits.
“All of Jamaica benefits when they are sufficiently empowered to successfully reintegrate into their communities upon release,” said Pearnel Charles Jr.
Project Manager in the Ministry of National Security, Dr Marc Thomas said the training is one of several partnership between the Ministry and the HEART Trust NTA.
“Participants in this particular course will receive a Statement of Competence and a Certificate of Participation on successful completion,” Thomas said.
