$50m road-repair project under way in St Catherine

The National Works Agency (NWA) is spending approximately $50 million to repair a number of roadways in St Catherine.
According to Communication Manager at the NWA Stephen Shaw, a total of 31 roadways across the parish are to be renovated, including nine Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus routes in Portmore.
Shaw says the renovation work began early last month and is being executed under two concurrent road patching programmes.
He says more than 15,000 square kilometres of roadway will be repaired at the completion of both programmes.
Among the roadways earmarked for renovation are the Spanish Town to Port Henderson corridor as well as the Tamarind Farm to Naggo Head strip.
The NWA says Burke Road, Oxford Road and other roads in Old Harbour Bay, Hellshire and Windsor will also be renovated.
It says patching will continue along the Bog Walk to Ewarton corridor as well as the surfaces between Vanity Fair and Tavern Hill and Church Road to Knollis.
