Two people over 50 die in car crash

Two people over 50 years old died in separate motor car crashes this morning.
In the first incident, the police report that 57-year-old Clive McKenzie of Steer Town, St Ann died when his Toyota motor car collided with a Honda Civic about 12:25 a.m. along the Ocho Rios main road.
McKenzie and two others received injuries and were taken to hospital. McKenzie was pronounced dead.
In the second incident, 56-year-old Joan Robinson of Oxford district, Brompton in St Elizabeth died after she was mowed down by a motor car at her home.
Reports from the Black River police are that about 7:15 a.m., the driver of a Toyota Corolla motorcar was travelling along the Oxford main road when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
The Corolla reportedly crashed into a utility pole, veered off the road and ended up in Robinson’s yard.
Robinson, who was outside sweeping, was hit and sustained multiple injuries. She was rushed to hospital where she later died.
The driver of the Corolla has since been taken into police custody.
Police continue to investigate both incidents.
