The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has sought to clarify that no illegal power connection was discovered at the Negril Police Station following media reports.

The light and power company explains that while several customers in a neighbouring area were out of power because of a vehicle crashing into a utility pole, the Negril Police Station lost power because of sudden and intense winds, which brought down a tree, causing damage to the service wire at the station.

The JPS is also seeking to make it clear that no illegal connection was discovered and nobody from the company alleged that the police station was in breach.

Meanwhile, the JPS says power was restored by Tuesday evening as the company took the opportunity to do a necessary upgrade to the police station's power supply.
