Tufton awaiting report on Savanna-la-Mar hospital construction

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton is awaiting a report from the Savanna-la-mar Hospital after images emerged of construction work being done on the paediatric ward while occupied by children.

Tufton has labelled as troubling the video and images circulating on Facebook.

He notes that under no circumstance should the children in the hospital’s care have been subjected to such conditions.

Following a directive from the health minister on Saturday, the Regional Director of the Western Regional Health Authority, Dr Ken-Garfield Douglas, suspended the work at once and the area was cleaned.

The matter is being investigated and Dr Tufton is awaiting a report.

The minister has expressed regret that the children and parents have had to endure the indiscretion.
