Air traffic control services extended to cover all flights – Aviation Authority

The beleaguered Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) says air traffic control services have now been extended to cover all flights entering and leaving the island's airspace.
In a release this morning, the JCAA said all its stakeholders have been informed via the established protocols.
However, the island's aviation regulator has still not restore 24-hour air traffic control services to the airspace.
This is after missing two previous deadlines to restore full service.
It didn't comment on the status of repairs to the radar communication system that was damaged by a lightning strike two Fridays ago at its control tower at the Norman Manley International Airport.
The agency has said it is currently relying on a scaled-down version of its new radar communication system that is to be installed by year end.
It said air traffic controllers are not able to fully utilise the features of the new equipment as they are currently undergoing training to use it.
