Constable hospitalised after crashing in Portland

A policeman remains in hospital after being injured in a road crash early yesterday morning in Portland.
The incident happened along the Breastwork main road in the parish.
The police say about 2:00 yesterday morning, the police constable was travelling on a motorcycle from a wake in the Rio Grande Valley, when he crashed into a Nissan Tiida motorcar travelling in the opposite direction.
The police report that the constable slammed head-on into the motor car and was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was rushed to the Port Antonio hospital by another motorist, where he was admitted in a serious, but stable condition.
