Men arrested in $10m ganja find charged

The police say three men who were arrested in connection with the seizure of more than $10 million worth of ganja in St Catherine, on Thursday, have now been charged by the Narcotics Police.
They have been identified as 41-year-old truck driver and businessman, Marlon Williams, of Passagefort, St Catherine; 37-year-old taxi driver, Gerard Samuels, of Lacovia, St Elizabeth; and 41-year-old farmer, Calvin Robinson, of West Cumberland, St Catherine.
The police say Williams was charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, and using premises for the storage of ganja.
Meanwhile, Samuels and Robinson were charged jointly with possession of ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, dealing in ganja, trafficking ganja and conspiracy.
Robinson is also facing a charge of money laundering.
The three men were arrested on Grange Lane, about 8 o’clock Thursday evening, in connection with the seizure of 220 pounds of ganja, which has an estimated street value $11.1 million.
A Toyota Noah minivan was also seized.
Detectives have revealed that subsequent operations conducted in support of their probe led to the seizure of nine cellular phones and cash exceeding $200,000.
