Foreigner arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine through Sangster airport
Detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division have arrested and charged one man at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Thirty-one-year-old Tracyston Mallory of a London, England address, was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
The police say about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Mallory was at the security checkpoint to board a flight destined to Brussels, Belgium, when his luggage was searched and 37 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.18 kilogrammes was found concealed in a false compartment.
The police say the drug has an estimated street value of $2 million.
He is scheduled to appear in the St James Parish Court on Friday.
