The government has allocated approximately $370 million to carry out a major infrastructure development programme in St James.

Under the programme, several roads in the parish, that have been badly scoured by the recent rains, will be rehabilitated and new drains will be constructed along with curb walls.

The roads that will be rehabilitated include the Felicity Road to Norwood, Flower Hill to Torado Heights, Meggie Top, Rose Mount to Rose Heights, Bogue Hill and Home Hill to Ironshore.

Under the programme, the Felicity Road will be widened from the T-junction on King’s Street to the Norwood Holiness Church to accommodate two lanes of traffic.

Work is also expected to be done on the Flagstaff to Garlands Road in South St James.

The announcement of the major road development programme for St. James was made by Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation and Member of Parliament for North Western St James, Dr Horace Change during a stakeholders meeting, recently.

In outlining details of the programme to residents, Chang said funds to carry out the work are already in place and the work will begin soon.
