The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says it will be using the Electronic Voter Identification and Ballot Issuing System in the March 5 by-elections in St Andrew North West and the Norman Gardens Division in Kingston.

The EOJ estimates that it will cost $41 million to conduct the polls.

The EOJ says it needs a total of 420 election workers to conduct the by-elections at 112 polling stations in St Andrew North Western and 52 polling stations earmarked for the Norman Gardens Division.

There are some 30,216 voters in St Andrew North West and 13,517 in the Norman Gardens Division who are registered to participate in the polls.

Businessman Dr Nigel Clarke of the Jamaica Labour Party will be facing Padmore Primary School Principal Keisha Hayle of the People's National Party in the St Andrew North West.

The elections agency warns that only registered voters will be allowed to participate.
