Metcalfe Street Correctional officers restive

Correctional officers at the Metcalfe Street Juvenile Detention Centre in downtown Kingston are now restive.

The correctional officers are reportedly upset over unpaid travelling allowance and the delay by the Commissioner of Corrections to address the situation.

One officer who didn't want to be identified this morning said the failure to pay the allowance has been affecting colleagues who have to be absorbing the additional cost of transportation.

As a result, he says the correctional officers at the juvenile correctional facility are conducting only emergency and meal services at the moment.
