Antiguan football coach 49-year-old Derrick Edwards was today offered $200,000 bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

His co-accused, 48-year-old equipment coordinator, Danny Benjamin, was denied bail and remanded.

Both men were ordered to return to court on April 10.

Edwards and Benjamin were charged yesterday by the police with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja and conspiracy after they were interviewed in the presence of their attorneys.

The police reported that on Monday afternoon the men were in the process of boarding a flight for their homeland at the Norman Manley International Aiport in Kingston when during a routine security screening anomalies were noticed in bags they were carrying.

They say the bags were searched and a total of 3.6 pounds of ganja were allegedly recovered.

Both men were subsequently arrested.

The ganja has an estimated street value of $14,400.
