Disappointed ... Keith Clarke's family reacts to delay in murder trial

The family of slain businessman Keith Clarke is disappointed that the murder trial of the three Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldiers accused of killing him has again been delayed, their attorney has revealed.

Corporal Odel Buckley, Lance Corporal Greg Tingling and Private Arnold Henry, were scheduled to go on trial on Monday for shooting Clarke 21 times inside his Kirkland Close, St Andrew home on May 27, 2010.

However, on Monday, lawyers for the JDF revealed in court that they were granted immunity from prosecution by former minister of national security Peter Bunting.

JDF attorney, Paul Beswick in his application to have the trial halted, suggested that any challenge to the certificates of immunity signed by Bunting should be made to the Full Court. 

Today, High Court judge, Justice Glen Brown agreed and halted the trial.

Leonard Green, the attorney representing Clarke’s family, said they are not disappointed by the ruling.

"It is not that we did not expect something of this nature," Green told The Gleaner.

"I think they are disappointed the matter is not going on," he continued.
